How Candy Shorts works, without the brochure language
Candy Shorts sells short vertical drama series on Candy.ai, and the basic mechanics fit on an index card: free openers, tokens for what follows, an account, and characters you can chat with.
The format
The episodes are short and vertical, made to be held in one hand like everything else on your phone. Most of the series we have reviewed run five episodes, and the one exception runs thirty. Because each episode is brief, the writing does not spend long on scenery, and characters tend to announce their situation quickly. The spec library lists the length of every title we have tested, so you can see the pattern for yourself.
Free openers and tokens
Each reviewed series opens with two free episodes. After that, episodes are unlocked with tokens, at twelve per episode on every title covered here. Tokens are the platform's own currency, and there are also subscription plans; the token guide sets out both, using only the figures we were given. We do not tell you what a token is worth in dollars, since we have no figure for it. The practical advice is short: use the openers as your test, as the free episodes guide explains, and decide on tokens afterwards.
The account
You will need an account with Candy.ai to pay for anything, and it is reasonable to expect a prompt for one early on. The exact steps, payment options and settings all belong to Candy and can change without this handbook hearing about it, so we do not list them here. Candy.ai does not run this site, which means we cannot look up your account, change a plan or refund a token. Any question of that sort has to go to Candy directly. Before you sign up, read the plan screen closely for what you get and how renewal works, as you would with any subscription. This site is for viewers aged 18 and over.
Character chat
Candy is also a chat platform, and characters from its world can be available to talk to as AI companions. That is a separate activity from watching: a series is a fixed story, while a chat is a conversation generated as you go. Nothing on our sheets assumes that you use chat at all. Which characters are available, and how chat is priced, is for the platform to say, and you should check it there.
